Founder of Imagine Salon & Spa, Ian has over 48 years in the beauty industry. Originally from Montreal, Ian learned his trade in Toronto.
In 1980 he moved to Nova Scotia from Toronto, wanting to be close to the ocean and his girlfriend Jacquie. He has been married to Jacquie for 40 years and has three wonderful children. Ian & Jacquie have raised their children in Bedford for over 33 years, and it gives him great pleasure to be a part of this community. Ian Marc’s (the salon) was first established in 1986, and in 2008 we changed the name to Imagine Salon & Spa, putting the focus on our team & our company. Imagine Salon & Spa is passionate about watching cosmetologists grow with their career, education is key and we are humbled by the many friends & customers who have supported us during the past years.
Outside of his work at the salon, Ian enjoys riding his Harley motorcycle, travelling and relaxing with a glass of wine and good food!
Some of Ian’s career highlights:
- A winner of the Atlantic hairdressing championship, and a competitor in the Canadian championship
- 1986 opened Ian Marc’s hairstyling, by 1992 had three locations
- 2006 – Completed a Color Masters Program with Goldwell Color.
- He was a platform artist for a major manufacturer, and taught hairstyling nationally and internationally.
- Many magazines, such as Flare, Canadian Living, Chatelaine, as well as numerous professional hairstyling magazines, have recognized Ian.
- Ian has appeared on Breakfast television over 30 times, and appeared on Global noon for two seasons.
- He has worked on several movies, commercials, and television series.
- Ian does special speaking engagements for schools, business’s and salons.

I had a delightful appointment with Ian for my first hair cut and style with him. He took time before my appointment to ask several questions to know my occupation, hair type, concerns and challenges due to being in the healthcare profession - wearing heavy headgear, hair caps, face shields etc... all day and how frustrating it has been with hair care. He was a wealth of information and help!! I enjoyed the appointment as if we were old friends. grin Looking forward to my next appointment.

I love Imagine Salon and Spa! Ian has done a phenomenal job helping me grow out my hair and worked his magic on creating a beautiful colour! From Ashley and Kim at the front counter, to Rae and Myah in the spa, everyone is so warm and friendly while also being super professional. I highly recommend!
